dj :: purebred irish setter

DJ FOUND HIS FOREVER FAMILY WITH OUR PARENTS!

DJ is a three-and-a-half-year-old bundle of love!  He is a big ol' wiggle worm that is just happy to be near you.  He was surrendered to Tennessee Valley Golden Retriever Rescue by his former family in very poor shape.  Though we were told he was purchased from a Golden Retriever breeder, there is little doubt that he's really an Irish Setter, but we love him anyway!  He had lived outside his entire life and had probably never seen a brush (a big deal with a Irish Setter).  He was COVERED in mattes, and his ears were caked with layers and layers of earwax that had turned into a very unpleasant tar-like substance.  After two hours of brushing, an entire bottle of powerful ear cleaning gel, one flea bath, one oatmeal bath, and lots of clipping and buzzing he started to look like someone actually cared.  He's taking very well to a life of couch-laying and air conditioning!  His skin and coat are looking and feeling better everyday, and he's ready for his forever home!

cassie :: golden retriever mix

CASSIE FOUND A FOREVER FAMILY IN NEW ENGLAND!

Cassie is the cutest little fluff ball!  It's hard to tell exactly what kind of mix she is. Maybe a Golden Retriever and Shetland Sheepdog mix? But one thing that's for sure is that this three-month-old mix is super sweet and precious. She loves playing with any other pup that's interested, and she's learning quickly how to walk on a leash.

starbuck :: lab/staffordshire mix

STARBUCK FOUND A HOME TO CALL HIS OWN!

Don't let his look fool you... Starbuck is just one tough-looking cuddle buddy.  He is a two-year-old Lab/Staffordshire Terrier mix that LOVES kids of every age!  He is just so playful and loving!  He's such a good little buddy.  He's quite happy to lay around all day or play and play and play!  His favorite spots are the couch and bed!  We've been working on the crate training and he's doing better and better everyday.  Please consider bringing such a precious boy of a misunderstood breed into your home.

Reasons to Own a "Bully Breed” (complements of Madison ARF):
  • Bully breeds have incredibly lovable personalities!
  • They are fun-loving, intelligent, gentle, affectionate, and goofy dogs.
  • They’re sturdy, tolerant, and have enough energy for the most boisterous children.
  • They’re low maintenance: shedding is minimal and grooming is simple.
  • They’re versatile: they can live in any climate (indoors of course), in the city or in the country, and do any sport or activity you want.
  • They’re passive home security systems (though bullies are such people lovers they’d likely help the bad guys carry your stuff out.)
  • You’ll never get out of shape; just walking a bully is a workout.
  • Bully breeds are quiet. Your neighbors will thank you.
  • They’re thick-skinned and stoic. Your vet will thank you.
  • Bully breeds are extremely loyal and can make wonderful companions!
  • Check out Madison ARF's website for more information on the breed's forgotten history of being America's most popular family dog!

bridgett :: toller mix

BRIDGETT FOUND HER NEW HOME IN NEW ENGLAND!

 Bridgett is a nine-month-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever mix that loves people more than anything (food comes next).  She loves, loves, loves to give kisses and snuggle up for some rubs.  She would splash around all day in the pool if you would let her, at least until she got hungry or you started throwing a ball for her!  She's a playful little pooch that will win your heart in no time.

bandit :: great pyrenees/border collie mix

BANDIT FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME IN NEW ENGLAND!

Bandit is an absolute sweetheart.  Our best guess is that he is a Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix.  He is a very playful two-year-old that LOVES to play fetch with any ball you can find!  He takes a few detours on his way back, but eventually you get the ball back!  He loves to give lots of kisses and cuddles.  He's a big boy, about 80 lbs, but he doesn't know it!  He's very gentle, and desires nothing more than to just be near you.  Bandit does great in a crate or left to roam around.  He is just SO lovable!!!  He will be greatly missed!
